The 50th Annual Spring Homes & Garden Tour
April 7 & 8, 2017 marks the 50th Anniversary of New Bern’s Spring Historic Homes & Gardens Tour. During this time, homeowners open their doors so the public can visit some of the most beautiful and interesting homes in New Bern’s historic district. Guests tour the living quarters of these homes, learning about the original architecture, renovations and furnishings. Tryon Palace’s Annual Heritage Plant Sale is held on the Palace grounds during the tour as well.

History Blooms At Tryon Palace
Visitors will see the splendor of tulips and spring blooms during the Garden Lover’s Weekend, which takes place alongside the Spring Historic Homes & Gardens Tour. Tryon Palace and its grounds are filled with a variety of stunning gardens that are truly a wonder to behold. Another featured stop on the tour will take place at Tryon Palace’s New Bern Academy – a museum located in an 1809 building 4 blocks from Tryon Palace, in the heart of New Bern’s historic residential district. Originally a school house, the New Bern Academy served as a hospital during the Civil War and in 1881 became part of the New Bern graded school system, which used it for classes until 1971.

Trolley Tours Through The Downtown District
Experience one of the most delightful sightseeing tours New Bern has to offer when you take a trolley tour of the historic downtown area. During this 90-minute tour, professional guides recount the fascinating historical and architectural details of this former royal capital of North Carolina. Discover Tryon Palace, see where George Washington danced, visit Christ Episcopal Church and explore the historic Cedar Grove Cemetery. You can even book the trolley for your wedding or other special event. Tours begin and end at Tryon Palace and take place throughout the year.

Boat Tours On The Neuse & Trent Rivers
Experience the charm of New Bern from the water. Cruise along the Trent or Neuse River and take in the scenery on your choice of vessel. There are several charters that offer sailboat, pontoon boat and tug boat cruises.
